ECA West Midlands Business Day - Powering the West Midlands: 125 Years of Progress - 6 October 2026

Join ECA Members, industry leaders and business experts for a morning of insight, discussion and practical guidance on the key issues affecting electrical contractors across the West Midlands and the wider UK.

The event will open with a welcome from the ECA West Midlands Regional Co-Chairmen, followed by an update from ECA Managing Director Andrew Eldred, who will set out the association's current position and priorities for the future.

Attendees will then hear from Catherine Watt, ECA Employment & Skills Director, who will explain the implications of the Employment Rights Act for contractors, before Rob Driscoll, ECA Director of Legal & Policy, provides an industry update covering the latest challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

The morning will also feature sponsor presentations from Ledvance and Milwaukee Tools, highlighting new developments and solutions for the electrical industry.

A dedicated skills and growth session, led by Keith Sanderson, Head of Education & Skills, will bring together representatives from the West Midlands Combined Authority to discuss workforce development across the region. This will be followed by a Growth Hub presentation focused on supporting business growth and long-term success.

Members will also receive an important update on Martyn's Law from Justin Chapman, ECA Technical Manager, outlining what businesses need to know and how the legislation may affect them.

Before lunch, ECA President Glenn Grant will share his reflections on the year and introduce the keynote speaker, Derek Redmond. One of Britain's most recognised athletes, Derek will deliver an inspiring session on resilience, leadership and overcoming adversity, drawing on his experiences in elite sport and business.
